Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested 8 people connected with “Criminal World”

The employees of the main division against the fight with organized crime under the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the General Prosecutor’s Office, as a result of complex operational measures and investigative actions, arrested 8 people for the connections with the “Criminal World” in Tbilisi, Rustavi and Chkhorotsku. The arrests were held on the basis of the relevant court decision.

The following persons with previous convictions were detained for membership of “Thieves’ World”, supporting the activities of the “thief world” and referring to a member of “Thieves’ World”: K.B. (DoB 1989), G.S. (DoB 1991), R.M. (DoB1975, nicknamed "Lolo"), B.S. (DoB 1990), K.B. (DoB 1964), M.K. (DoB 1974, nicknamed “Kursha”), T.Ch. (DoB 1991, nicknamed “Tazo”) and I.K., (DoB 1987).

The committed crimes envision up to 10 years in prison.

The investigation established that a financial dispute arose between the citizen of a foreign country and T.C., related to the construction business. The disputed amount was 130,000 GEL. At the same time, K.B. (DoB 1964) - an employee of the company, promised to provide assistance to a foreign citizen and in order to receive cash, he turned to the criminal authorities, including his son - K.B. (DoB 1989).

On his part, T.C. also turned to the criminal authorities for help. The criminal authorities brought “thieves in law” - Nika Githolandia and Nodar Shukakidze - into the case who organized a “criminal skirmish” and ordered one of the disputing parties to pay in favor of the other, also in favor of criminal authorities.

As a result of the personal search and search activities held in residential houses of the defendants, the police seized mobile phones as evidence, through which they communicated with each other and contacted “thieves in law” abroad.

The investigation is being conducted under the first part of Article 223 (1), Part 2 of Article 223 (3) and Part 1 of Article 223 (4) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
