Parliament of Georgia starts the committee discussions of the draft law “On Transparency of Foreign Influence”

The Committee on Legal Issues of the Georgian Parliament started deliberating on the bill “On Transparency of Foreign Influence” submitted by the parliamentary majority.

The bill provides for a requirement that organisations receiving foreign funding publish their annual financial reports.

The Georgian Dream demands specific evidence from the opponents of the bill regarding allegations about similarity of the legislation to Russian legislation.

The ruling party asserted that the bill was aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability, and challenged the opposition parties to substantiate their claims.
