Specific NGOs have been involved in blocking strategic economic projects – Prime Minister

The Prime Minister of Georgia said that specific domestic non-governmental organisations were involved in blocking strategic economic projects, which had already harmed the interests of Georgia’s energy independence.

“Specific NGOs have been involved in blocking [the country’s] strategic economic projects, due to which damage has already been done, for example, to the interests of Georgia’s energy independence.

I think that if there was a bill “On Transparency on Foreign Influence” in this sector too, it would be difficult for these NGOs to act so brazenly against the interests of the country’s energy independence, and they would be more careful about their international donors. Again, the Bill on Transparency would prevent damaging the interests of the country"s energy independence by NGOs”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
