The State Secretary of the German Economy Ministry will visit Georgia

The State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK), Sven Giegold, will travel to Georgia on May 7, 2024 for economic and EU policy discussions. The delegation of German companies will arrive together with him.

During the visit, Giegold and the delegation will hold talks with, among others, the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and civil society organizations.

The topics of discussion will be Georgian efforts and German support to bring Georgia closer to the EU, as well as the associated reforms. Other topics include tourism as well as trade and investment (air traffic, payment transactions, mobile phone roaming, etc).

Discussions about bilateral projects and visits by the delegation to Georgian companies are also planned.

With the visit, State Secretary Giegold also wants to send a special signal of support on Georgia’s path to the EU.

“Georgia must now stay on course and quickly implement the agreed reform steps. Georgian society is ready for the EU. Georgia is an important partner for us in the South Caucasus. We want to intensify bilateral economic relations with Georgia. The federal government is strengthening German companies in their activities in the region and is thereby also providing positive impetus for reforms in the EU accession process”, - said Sven Giegold.
