Whenthe Media Ombudsman Institute  will be  created, who will lead it and who will approve it , as well as exactly what functions it will have. The details of the Prime Minister`s initiative are not yet known.

The opposition assess the initiative as a formal response of the government to the
European Court`s decision.
For the parliamentary minority it is not clear f whom Media Ombudsman should protect journalists from, when a major threat to the media is the government.

"The media in the first place needs protection from the government, and more than anyone else. Therefore the only thing that will regulate the media space problems is political not to interfere with the functioning of the media, "- said a member of the European Georgia Helen Khoshtaria.

The National Movement calls the Prime Minister`s initiative cynical . Party leader Bibilashvili Zaza said that the government had buried in the first place the court, and then the Georgian media .

"They actually killed the media, and now they say that they should create the post of media ombudsman. Whose rights should this Ombudsman defenf ? Of GDS or of Russia Today? Because in their hands the Georgian media is dead. Everything has been done to kill the court and the media , "- said Zaza Bibilashvili.

Georgian Dream is convinced that the new institution will guarantee more freedom to the media .

"The government is ready to guarantee the freedom of the media and support functioning of independent and objective media. The necessary funding can be found, in this connection we may talk to donors. I do not think that it is such an expensive institution and the mechanism that it will be difficult to find funding for it, "- said Archil Talakvadze.
