It has nothing to do with freedom of expression - President`s administration assesses unrest in Batumi

National Security Council Secretary, David Rakviashvili is in Batumi. He said that shortly he would be having a meeting with the Interior Minister and Chairman of the Adjara where all the events of the night would be discussed.

"The most important is that it be stopped and inhibited. It is unfortunate that there are injured people, both civilians and police officers. Freedom of expression is essential, but it should not have anything to do with vandalism, "- said David Rakviashvili.

At Margvelashvili"s instruction, the head of presidential administration, Giorgi Abashishvili is in Batumi as well. In his view, it is necessary to investigate actions of demonstrators and law enforcement .

The protest rally started in the afternoon and escalated at 11:00 pm when the protesters started throwing stones at police and police fired rubber bullets and used tear gas in response.
