Government misleads public - civil sector on so-called wiretapping law

The non-governmental organizations called on the President to veto the bill on the so-called wiretapping law . Civil society once again explains the risks that the law adopted by the ruling team poses.

The Civil sector say that the document does not meet the stipulations of the Constitutional Court`s decision.

"We think that the law does meet the Constitutional Court`s decision and actually is misleading the public, as if independent agency is formed to conduct secret surveillance. Thus, we can not accept this law, and we would welcome the president`s veto, "- said the executive director of the International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy. Michael Benidze.

According to representatives of non-governmental organizations, in case the President`s veto on the case is overcome , they will appeal the law first in the Constitutional Commission and then in the Strasbourg Court.
