Civil society is against changing the rules for electing President and demands to increase his authority

Change of the election rules of the President and the curtailment of his rights is strongly opposed by the civil sector.

Non-governmental organizations involved in the work of the Constitutional Commission believe that in the current situation instead of the curtailment the powers of the President should be increased.

In the case the dissenting opinion is not taken into account in the future, non-governmental organizations do not rule out the possibility of leaving the Constitutional Commission.

"I think in the country like ours, it"s better, to directly elect the President. As for the authorities, we have to think that some powers may be added to the president despite the fact that this is a parliamentary republic. For example, I think about the right of legislative initiative, "- said Lasha Tugushi.

According to the initiative of the majority, the president may need the prime minister`s on such issues as veto on the bills and dual citizenship.
