NGOs demand transparency of court decisions

Lawsuit filed by two NGO`s in the Constitutional Court demand the disclosure of the decisions taken by general courts.

The claimants demand to recognize unconstitutionality of the Personal Data Protection Law and the Administrative Code`s provisions regarding the access. to the court decisions.

The plaintiffs claim that the disputed provisions restrict the review the decisions taken at an open hearings of the general courts.

"In the conditions of the existing legal framework, it is impossible to get hold of the decisions on various high-profile case, which are of particularly high public interest. Such cases include the case of President Saakashvili, the case against the former mayor. When we ask the court to provide information aboutt the decision, our request is rejected under data protection argument, "- said lawyer of the IDFI- Nono Merebashvili .
