Constitutional reforms are being discussed at the conference, organized by non-governmental organizations for the second hour.

The civil society as well as members of political parties agree that direct presidential elections should not be canceled.

Representatives of the President"s Administration have been invited at the meeting as well, However they have not attended the conference. The Civil sector members state that this is a sorrowful fact.

"We think that everything should be resolved in the context of the country. therefore we strongly support direct presidential elections,"- said Eka Gigauri, Executive director of Transparency International- Georgia.

Paata Davitaia, Chairman of European Democrats says that arguments of the Parliamentary chairman are absurd.

" The chairman of parliament stressed that the elections are not considered in the long run . Among the arguments is that elections are politicized. He has stressed that the academic president is needed. It seems that the Chairman of Parliament does not understand what is presidential institution. He is the commander in chief of the country, political figure and election is politics as well,"- said Paata Davitaia.
