The public defender, Ucha Nanuashvili responds to Shota Pakelyan`s case. According to the Ombudsman, the Public Defender"s Office is monitoring the case.

"Public Defender"s Office has been involved in the monitoring process, our representatives are currently in the facility N8 in order to visit the detainee. In addition, we have began the study of the documents which will enable us to say whether the imjuries to the detainee where inflicted furing the arrest or not, "- said Nanuashvili.

The young man`s family, accused the police of planting drugs and beating up of the detainee.The court sentenced him to 50-day pre-trial detention which the lawyer is going to appeal.

According to Shota Pakeliani`s lawyer, activist of the White Noise Movement , Giorgi Makharadze claims that law enforcement officers from Isani- Samgori police department N 7 beat 26-year-old Shota Pakeliani and therefore, he was unconscious for four days.
The lawyer considers the charges against Shota Pakeljan groundless. According to him, the police abused their power, and they should be held responsible.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs denies allegation of the family of the Pakelyans, according to which, law enforcement officers beat 26-year-old Shota Pakelyan and drugs were planted on him.

According to the statement released by the Ministry, Shota Pakelyan was arrested on March 23 and police seized 0.0664 grams of drugs - the so-called "Bio".
