Georgian delegation to attend spring session of Parliamentary Assemblies of Council of Europe

Delegation of Georgian Deputies will be attending the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg which is to open today.

According to the majority, their goal is to fix the position that Georgia should move from the EU monitoring phaze to the post-monitored phase. According to the leaders of the Georgian Dream, this will be possible due to different reforms and positive assessments of the country.

According to them, they will talk about the situation in the occupied territories, including with human rights at various debates and meetings with political groups.

"The most important task is that Georgia moves from the monitoring phase to the post-monitoring phase. We really deserve this due to progress reached by our country regarding democratic development and human rights, "said Tamar Chugoshvili.

The transition to the post-monitoring phase is considered to be unrealistic by the European Georgia.

"The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has many times expressed a critical view of Georgian Dream`s activity in Georgia. I think it is premature and unrealistic to demand the cessation of the monitoring procedure," Giorgi Kandelaki said.

The main topic of the Parliamentary Assemblies will be the referendum and the ongoing events in Turkey

The MPs will also hear the Annual Report of the Commissioner for Human Rights.
