Constitutional amendments - third sector to send assessment to Venice Commission

The civil sector will send to the Venice Commission the assessment of the constitutional amendments in the nearest future. The document evaluates the work of the Commission, as well as the disputed articles , including the electoral system.

The civil sector does not agree with the rule of electing of the president determined by the amendments and the record on the definition of marriage in the Constitution.

According to NGOs, the document will also substantiate why they do not share the project proposed by the ruling team.

"First of all it concerns the electoral system and the principle issue is the presidential election, as well as the issue of the definition of marriage in the constitution," said Mikhail Benidze, executive director of the International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy.
