Civil sector demands to grant political asylum to Emir Chabuk

The rally in support of Mustafa Emre Chabuk is underway at the government`s administration. NGOs, Demirel"s college representatives and Emre Chabuk`s family members aregathered at the administration.

Demonstrators call on the government not to hand over the Demirrel College Quality Management Manager to Turkey, as they say Mustafa Emre Chabuk may be a victim of political persecution, torture and inhuman treatment.

Supporters of Emre Chabuk demand a political asylum for the Turkish citizen.

"It is critical here that the authorities realize that this is not the case of one person. This case will show how the Georgian government respect the Constitution of Georgia and the international standards that our country has long ago acknowledged.. Therefore, the extradition of Chabuk will not be the risk only for one person. It will be disrespect towards and violation of the Constitution of this country, "-
said Ana Natsvlishvili.

Lawyr of Mustafa Emrechabu also attended the rally. According to Soso Baratashvili, the process of extradition to Turkey is suspended in accordance with the law of Georgia on international protection.

"The procedure for granting refugee status to him and his family members is initiated. If the issue is positively resolved, it will naturally stop the extradition case. If it is resolved negatively, it will continue to be , "- said Soso Baratashvili.

Mustafa Emrechabuk`s wife thanked the organizers of the action. She says she hopes to be granted refugee status.
