The civil sector appeals to the Council of Europe. Georgian NGOs will send a joint appeal to the European side by the end of the day, to p0resent their position to the Strasbourg Court regarding the selection process.

The civil sector explains that the contest was conducted unfairly and many dignified candidates were not allowed to come to the final stage.

"Judge Nino Bakakuri, former judge of the Constitutional Court, Constantine Vardzelashvili, former judge of the Constitutional Court, also many non-judge lawyers whose qualifications should not be doubted. Such candidates were not supported by the representatives of the government and received minimum scores, which confirms our doubts about politization of the process which is a very bad signal, "- Oliko Shermad, a lawyer from the NGO Transparency International Georgia, said.

Ana Natsvlishvili, chairman of the Georgian Young Lawyers" Association, said that some strong candidates were intentionally blocked.
