Constitutional amendments - Opposition parties hold discussions behind closed doors

Opposition parties discuss the constitutional amendments behind closed doors. They should ultimately consider their position on disputable changes and to develop a united approach. Representatives of the opposition advise the government to challenge the adoption of the Constitution by two hearings and call on them to take real steps to achieve consensus.

"On the one hand the government trues to push their draft and on the other hand, they keep ensuring the Venice Commission that neither the society, nor other political parties are ready for the consensus. , "said Zaza Bibilashvili, Deputy Chairman of the Political Council of the United National Movement.

Levan Tarkhnishvili, a member of the political council of the party "European Georgia - Movement for Freedom", states that the the government is in the ostrich pose.

"We are in crisis and this is conditioned by the government, and therefore it is their responsibility to bring us our from this dead end. Unfortunately, today the government is in the ostrich pose , "Tarkhnishvili said.

The non-parliamentary opposition hopes that the authorities will properly assess the situation and start discussing separate provisions.
