Parliamentary opposition and Tbilisi mayoral candidates will meet NDI members

 

Members of the parliamentary opposition and Tbilisi mayoral candidates will meet the observation delegation of the National Democratic Institute in Georgia today.

The opposition intends to focus on constitutional amendments and electoral systems. Including the importance of abolishing the majoritarian system.

"We are going to talk about amendments to the Election Code, which actually creates infrastructure for the governing team to better use administrative resources. We will also talk about the ongoing processes in the country, including the constitutional amendments. Because we understand very well that the adoption of this constitution will make it impossible to replace the government through elections, "-said Salome Samadashvili, a member of the " UNM ".

Members of the "European Georgia" will also focus on constitutional amendments. The party states that the views will be discussed in detail and the party does not support the draft amendments developed by the ruling party. The emphasis will be made on the pre-election environment.

"The main theme of the conversation will be constitutional amendments, which has been implemented by the authorities in the last few months, in the parliament and intends to adopt such a system which does not completely fit the demands of the Georgian people and does not reflect the will of the Georgian people " - says Irakli Kiknavelidze.
