Petro Poroshenko`s statement in President`s palace and awkward situation - statements of majority and minority

Ukraine`s President Petro Poroshenko has completed his official visit after the meeting with the Chairman of Parliament. The meeting was attended by the MPs of the parliamentary majority and minority.

After the meeting, the majority MPs commented on the statements made by Petro Poroshenko in the presidential palace where the Ukrainian president said that it would be good for Georgia to have a document similar to Minsk agreement.

Majority MP Gia Volski explained how the Georgian side uses the agreement against Russia to force it to fulfill the taken obligation.
Giorgi Volsky calls the visit of the Ukrainian delegation "strategically important".

Sergei Kapanadze, Member of the Movement for Freedom - European Georgia, commented on Poroshenko`s statement.

"We have an August 12 agreement that obliges Russia to withdraw its troops. We do not have such a high-level format that will be engaged in executing this agreement, which Ukraine has . That is not the case, for example, the format of Normandy, when high level diplomats of the United States and Europe will be involved in our conflict resolution, this is the difference, "- said Sergi Kapanadze.

The deputy chairperson of the National Movement faction assessed the meeting with the President of Ukraine after 5-year pause as a positive one.

"It is very important to defend the strategic interests of this country on the international arena. The Ukrainian government understands very well, unlike the Georgian authorities, that legal persecution against political opponents harms their relations with the EU and the West, " - Salome Samadashvili said.
