High Commissioner for Human Rights demands admisson of international observers on occupied territories

The issue of Georgia`s occupied regions has been discussed at the 36th session of the UN Human Rights Council - in the report of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva. The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs addressed the participants of the session.

Davit Zalkaliani talked about the destruction of the IDPs` homes in Eredvi as a continuation of ethnic cleansing policy, as well as the practice of installing wired fences and other artificial barriers along the occupation line, prohibition of education in native language in both regions, additional restrictions on freedom of movement and human rightsas well as other gross violations.

The necessity of active involvement of international organizations in the occupied territories was underlined.

"The report is a fair and objective assessment of the situation in the occupied territories, the report of the High Commissioner was very clear and urged the power that carries out the effectively control of territory to let the international observers enter thr territory., "-said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Zalkaliani.
