The staircase in Leogrand hotel did not meet the minimum standards of fire safety - director of the MIA Emergency Management Agency

There was a fire ladder in the hotel "Leogrand" in Batumi, but it did not meet the safety standards- stated Nikoloz Siradze, Director of the Emergency Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to him, investigation in the MIA has begun.

Nikoloz Siradze did not respond to the question asked by the journalist whether the rescue service was relevantly equipped during the fire in Batumi.
"The Interior Ministry had already launched an investigation under Article 243 of the Ctiminal code.. According to the preliminary data, the staircase in the building could not satisfy even the minimal safety of fire safety, thus, it was practically impossible to use in the emergency situation, "- said Nikoloz Siradze.

In the hotel "Leogrand" in Batumi, 11 people were killed, including 10 citizens of Georgia and one citizen of the Republic of Iran. 21 people had to be hospitalized, of which 7 are still in the hospital.
