Person accused of robbing Tsereteli branch of Bank of Georgia detained


The Ministry of Internal Affairs has already arrested the suspect for robbing Tsereteli branch of Bank of Georgia.

According to the investigation, the accused attacked the Bank of Georgia"s Express branch in Tsereteli Avenue in Tbilisi and coerced the cashier-operator to give him money by threating with a firearm and then escaped from the scene.

The law enforcers detained the accused several hours after the incident. The weapon of crime and part of the stolen money has been seized.

Investigation has begun under Article 179 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to robbery.

In case of conviction, the detainee faces eight to twelve years of imprisonment.
