PM Kvirikshvili resignes

Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has resigned. He said this at a special briefing. Giorgi Kvirikashvili spoke about the success of the economy.

"Today is the moment when the chairperson of the parliament is allowed to compose the team according to his viewpoint," Kvirikashvili said.

He named important achievements in the field of economics - floating currency rates, moderate growth of refinancing rates.

After the meeting in the Georgian Dream"s office yesterday, all the leaders denied that the prime minister was going to resign. This morning some members of the parliament called on him to resign.

Kvirikshvili"s resignation means that the composition of the government will automatically resign. After that, the parliamentary majority will present the new government to the president within 7 days. After that Giorgi Margvelashvili will present the composition to the Parliament in 7 days.
