The disaster in the village of Chuberi - geologists who study mudflow processes directly indicate that the river Nenskra and its valley are a problematic and risky place.
According to specialists, construction of the hydroelectric power was one of the reasons for the disaster. According to their information, up to 10 landslide spots are in the area, which has been activated after construction works.
If the construction plan continues, which means the cutting of the forest area, specialists predict catastrophic results.
Davit Chipashvili, a representative of the Association Green Alternative states that Nenskra"s hydropower plant creates additional fiscal threats to the country.
The second part of the environmentalists does not share this opinion. According to them, the cause of the disaster is only a strong sediment.
"Increased snowfall in spring increases the landslide processes and adds additional components to the hazardous hydro power plant and it will create a problem for the population," said Tea Godaladze, director of the Institute of Earth Sciences and Seismology National Center.
