Unprofessional Research - Parliamentary Majority Confirms Information on Sending Letter to European Parliament After Report of Nona Mikhailidze

The Parliament of Georgia confirms that after the critical report of an independent expert Nona Mikheidze, they have sent a letter to the European Parliament and questioned the competence of Mikhailidze"s conclusion.

In the message sent to Brussels from Tbilisi, the legislative body protests only part of the report, which concerns the issue of religious minorities, but the protest letter does not say anything about an informal governance.

In the report of the Expert from "International Institute of Rome" the government of Georgia is criticized for informal governance, as well as pressure on media and judicial reform.

"It is natural that we provide information to our European colleagues and tell them that either the actual mistakes are made in the report or are incorrect assessments. It is the responsibility of the Members of Parliament and the relevant committees , not to allow anyone to mislead the European Parliament "said Tamar Chugoshvili, The Vice Speaker of the Parliament.

Chairman of the Committee on European Integration Tamar Khulordava says that the conclusion of an independent expert is unprofessional .

"This research is not professional, I can not share her views on any issues. The survey focuses on assessments from 2015 and we have 2018 , "Tamar Khulordava said.
