The National Statistics Office confirms the price increase.
According to the agency, fuel consumption has increased by 20%, medicines - 10% and food inflation by 3.5% in the past year.
The announcement was made by Gogita Todradze, executive director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
"Prices on food have increased by about 3.3%, compared to the corresponding period last year. The reason is the increase in prices
for vegetables. In this case we have a 25% increase in prices. As for medicines, it is also increased by about 10 percent. It is also worth noting that petrol prices increase by about 19.5%. The main reason can be the devaluation of the national currency, "Gogita Todradze said.
Economists estimate that the increase in prices is due to the impairment of the Lari rate and the increase in excise.
Experts speak about the wrong economic policy of the National Bank and the Government. They are expecting further increase of prices.
