Vano Merabishvili is one of the founders and supporters of the United National Movement [UNM], but he is not part of the party management. Such a statement was released by the UNM in response to the interview of the former Prime Minister to the Ukrainian media.

“The UNM is a large and diverse political organization that unites more than half a million of our fellow citizens. Vano Merabishvili is one of the founders and supporters of the UNM, but he is not part of the party management, does not hold any party position, does not voice the party’s positions and is not involved in the daily activities of the party.

The party perceives the excessive, artificial and speculative discussions about the personal opinions expressed by specific individuals as an attempt to discredit the main opposition force and divert attention from the main topic.

Every person has the freedom to express his opinion and speech. Vano Merabishvili himself notes that the opinions expressed by him are his subjective opinion and he expresses his personal positions.

Once again, the positions of the UNM party are voiced only by the party’s management”, - reads the statement.
