Shalva Papuashvili meets with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov

Within the framework of the official visit to Azerbaijan, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov.

The parties highlighted the strategic role of the extensive joint transport, energy and logistic projects and the due and active operation of the so-called trade middle corridor. The emphasis was placed on new scheduled initiatives in this direction and in this context, discussed the increasing economic cooperation. The parties accentuated the close and friendly links between the two nations.

Papuashvili thanked Asadov for naming the Dramatic Theatre in the Qakh Region after Ilia Chavchavadze and installing the memorial plaque dedicated to Nikoloz Baratashvili in the city of Ganja. The parties overviewed the positive contribution of the Parliaments to the enhancement of the strategic partnership between the countries. Prime Minister Asadov expressed intact support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and congratulated the Speaker on the positive decision of the European Commission on the EU candidate status for Georgia.

The Parliamentary Delegation headed by the Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili, is composed of the Vice-Speaker, Archil Talakvadze; the Deputy Chair of the Faction “Georgian Dream”, Greta Tsitsava; Majority MPs Savalan Mirzoev, Zaur Dargali; and the member of the Faction “United National Movement – Unified Opposition “Unity Makes Strength”, Ramaz Nikolaishvili.
