A two-day summit of the European Council will start today in Brussels. The leaders of the European Union will address the latest developments in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and continued EU support for Ukraine and its people.

Besides, they will discuss EU enlargement policy, including the stabilisation and association process and next steps in this respect.

The enlargement package concerns the granting of candidate status to Georgia, starting membership negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova, as well as the countries of the Western Balkans.

It should be noted that yesterday the European Parliament passed a resolution calling on the European Council to start accession negotiations with Ukraine, Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to grant Georgia candidate status.
