Yes, Russia is the occupier, yes, Russia is the enemy, yes, Russia is guilty and we are not willing to make any compromises with Russia, said the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development at the session of the sectoral economy and economic policy committee of the Parliament, where he is answering the questions of MPs regarding the visit to China.
“This is an initiative of which Georgia is a member, together with many EU countries. Georgia has participated in this forum every time since the forum’s existence, and Russia has also participated in this forum almost always.
Now, if anyone wants to portray that the government of Georgia is harming the interests of Georgia in any way and is engaged in some kind of secret dialogue, I can say unequivocally and directly that this is not the case.
As I told you, we, the Government, have not given anything to Russia in the last 10 years. If we want to talk clearly about the occupation - yes, I am telling you that Russia is the occupier, yes, Russia is the enemy, yes, Russia is guilty and we are not willing to make any compromises with Russia to the detriment of Georgia"s interests.
On the contrary, we have a dialogue in order to serve the interests of Georgia as much as possible, and I say this unequivocally.
As for the participation of the Georgian delegation in the forum held in China, which was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Our attendance was out of respect for the Chinese state, and it was a direct personal invitation from President Xi Jinping.
Our participation at the forum and within the commission was supported at the highest level by the Chinese state, and it would be absolutely irresponsible for us to ignore this invitation, given the dynamics we have today with China in the trade and economic context”, - said Levan Davitashvili.
