Agreement on Migration and Mobility was signed between the Governmentს of Georgia and Germany

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri, met with the Federal Minister of the Interior and Community of the Federal Republic of Germany, Nancy Faeser, during her official working visit to Georgia.

During the meeting, the Agreement on Migration and Mobility was signed between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Agreement aims to bolster collaboration between Georgia and the Federal Republic of Germany in the field of labor migration and education, with an emphasis on enhancing educational and internship initiatives for Georgian students and researchers. Additionally, the agreement outlines measures to intensify efforts against illegal migration, which includes strengthening cooperation on readmission and reintegration of citizens of Georgia violating visa-free travel regulations. During the meeting, the parties discussed future prospects of cooperation in combating illegal migration and organized crime.

Vakhtang Gomelauri underscored the importance of Federal Republic of Germany"s decision to include Georgia in the list of safe countries of origin. He noted that the decision of the German Government serves as a validation of Georgia"s democratic governance and attests to the effective protection of human rights by the state institutions of Georgia.

During the meeting, the German side acknowledged Georgia"s successful implementation of the Readmission Agreement with the European Union and positively evaluated measures taken in response to challenges of visa-free travel with the EU.

At the end of the meeting, both parties expressed hope for intensified cooperation in the future, facilitated by the signed Agreement.
