The quota for the approval of application of asylum seekers in Germany is 0.3%. Such a statement made the Federal Minister of the Interior and Public Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, Nancy Faeser.
As she noted at the joint press conference with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri, Georgia was granted the status of a safe country so that Georgian citizens would not come to Germany and ask for asylum.
“According to our agreement, as well as the granting of the status of a safe country to Georgia, nothing changes, nothing is restricted in terms of the individual right of asylum seekers, as well as in terms of the right to come to Germany, but 0.3% is the quota for approval of the application of asylum seekers. It was necessary to make such a decision, to grant the status of a safe country.
It was important to implement some changes, this is an echo of the migration agreement. There are too many people coming into Germany from third countries, and we had to take some measures to deal with this quickly and efficiently.
We granted Georgia the status of a safe country, this is very important so that Georgian citizens do not come to this extent and ask for asylum. Also, the migration agreement is important, because over the past 3 years, for example, the rate of migration from Ukraine has increased by 60%”, - explained Nancy Faeser.
