There is no direct budget funding from France, therefore, it is a bit unclear what the Ambassador’s statement was about - Papuashvili

There is no direct budget funding from France. Therefore, it is a bit unclear what this statement was about. Such a comment made today the Speaker of the Parliament, while responding to the statement of the French Ambassador.

“It is not true. No money is coming in the Georgian budget from the French budget. There is no direct budget funding from France. So it’s a bit unclear what this [statement] was about.

Budgetary aid is a specific instrument of financial aid, which means budgetary aid”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.

The French Ambassador to Georgia said that on June 27, the European Council concluded that the path to joining the European Union was de facto suspended, which is a result of decisions taken by the Georgian government. As she added, for this reason, they made a decision to temporarily suspend the aid to the Georgian budget and to strengthen the aid to the civil society and the media.
