A record number of passengers was recorded in Georgian airports - Mariam Kvrivishvili

The passenger flow in the international airports of Georgia has increased significantly. Such a statement made the Deputy Minister of Economy. As Mariam Kvrivishvili added, Tbilisi Airport served 519,275 passengers in July.

“Which is 29% more compared to the data of the same period of 2023, and Batumi Airport transported 48% more passengers compared to the 2023. It is also a historical maximum in Kutaisi International Airport, where up to a million passengers were served in 7 months of 2024. Both frequencies and directions from Europe and the Gulf countries have increased, which, in the end, was reflected in the record increase in passenger traffic at the country’s international airports.

We have about 30 European destinations in Kutaisi, which positively affects the diversification of the tourism industry of our country and increases the share of European tourists in the tourism sector of our country. We continue to implement all activities together with the private sector to ensure the sustainability of our tourism and aviation industries.

The Georgian side is conducting negotiations with partner airlines in order to introduce new airlines to the Georgian air market, to increase flight frequencies on those directions that are distinguished by their strategic nature.

Georgia received a historical maximum from tourism in the form of income, which equaled USD 1.9 billion according to the data of the 2 quarters of 2024. These indicators are directly related to the policy of diversification of target markets, which the Government is conducting in both the tourism and civil aviation sectors. We are conducting active marketing campaigns to increase the awareness of Georgia on the international arena”, - said Mariam Kvrivishvili.
