Today we remember the soldiers and civilians who died in the August war. Such a statement the Speaker of the Parliament made at the Mukhathgverdi Brothers’ Cemetery.
“Today, we recall the hard days of August 16 years ago, which we all experienced together - our heroic soldiers who were on the front line of fire, civilians who were at the epicenter of the war, and the whole of Georgia, which was particularly hard hit by the aggression that was taking place against Georgia.
We remember the days of August 2008, when people are usually looking for a holiday, but how suddenly the clouds turned happy days into tragic days.
We must not forget the fragility of peace and, above all, the responsibility of the political leadership to prevent war in the country. This is what Georgian Dream has been doing for the last 12 years”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
