To honor the achievements of our proud athletes, we have decided to nominate all Olympic medalists for the highest state awards - Kobakhidze, Papuashvili

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili issue a joint statement.

“The Georgian Olympic team has concluded its participation in the Olympic Games. At the Paris Olympics, Georgian athletes won 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal, marking the best result in history. Consequently, the Georgian Olympic team achieved the highest-ever position, ranking 24th in the overall team standings. We wish to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Georgian Olympians and the entire nation of Georgia for this tremendous success.

To honor the achievements of our proud athletes, we have decided to nominate all Olympic medalists for the highest state awards.

The following Olympic champions have been nominated for the Order of Victory named after St. George:

- Lasha Talakhadze, 3-time Olympic champion, 7-time world champion and 7-time European champion;
- Lasha Bekauri, 2-time Olympic champion;
- Geno Petriashvili, holder of all three types of Olympic medals, 3-time world champion and 2-time European champion.

The following Olympic medalists have been nominated for the Order of Honor:

- Tato Grigalashvili, Olympic vice-champion, 3-time world champion and 3-time European champion;
- Ilia Sulamanidze, Olympic vice-champion, multiple-time medalist in world and European championships;
- Givi Matcharashvili, Olympic vice-champion, 2-time medalist in world championships and 2-time European champion;
- Lasha Guruli, Olympic bronze medalist, multiple-time medalist in world and European championships.

Once again, we would like to express our gratitude to each member of the Georgian Olympic team for the victories they have secured for Georgia, and we wish our athletes continued success in the future”, - reads the statement.
