Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia met the participants of the Shaori Youth Camp. He spoke about elections and highlighted importance of youth’s engagement in electoral process as well as ensuring that they are properly informed in the area of electoral issues. In addition, the CEC Chairperson provided the youth with information regarding electoral innovations, preparatory process for the October 26 Parliamentary Elections, introduction of electronic technologies, pertinent myths and reality about electronic elections, and global practice on using technologies in electoral process. The Giorgi Kalandarishvili also covered the educational projects which the CEC is implementing for the youth.

The meeting has been actively conducted in the question-answer and discussion format. Chairperson of CEC delivered exhaustive answers to all questions of the young participants’ interest.

As part of the meeting, the youth took part in a simulation of voting and firsthand experienced how the verification and vote counting devices function in practice. The CEC Chairperson and the Ambrolauri District Election Commission’s Chairperson personally introduced electoral devices to the campers.

The Anaklia and Shaori Youth Camps are being organized by the LLPL Youth Agency under the Ministry of Education. In 2024, the Anaklia Camp is scheduled to be organized for 13 groups of youth and will host 3 120 young campers, while Shaori Camp is open for 8 groups of approximately 800 young campers. Representatives of the Election Administration of Georgia are gradually meeting participants of various groups of campers in both Shaori and Analia Camps.
