Call for holding vacant positions of Chairpersons and Members of Precinct Election Commissions is announced by the CEC

Calls for holding vacant position of the Chairpersons and Members of the Precinct Election Commissions (PEC) have been announced by the District Election Commissions (DEC). In total, 51 510 PEC Members will serve voters at the 3 030 election precincts. From these members, 9 090 Chairpersons and 15 150 Members shall be elected by the District Election Commission, while other 27 270 PEC members will be appointed by the authorized political parties.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia would like to inform you that the interested persons shall submit the required application to the relevant DEC from September 2 to no later than September 5 (6 p.m.). Furthermore, the candidate may submit the required documentations via the specific electronic platform (Konkursi.cec.gov.ge).

To simplify the procedures, the CEC has developed the recommendation form of an application, being available at the DECs.

It is noteworthy that as pert the applicable legislation, the DEC will elect the certified members of the PEC. Pursuant to the made amendments to the legislation, the PEC Members, who are elected by the DEC, shall have a certificate. For supporting the persons interested in the membership, the Election Administration of Georgia organized the certification exams several times throughout Georgia.

The exams have been organized 9 times from September of 2023 to the July 2024. The 5 exams were arranged for the candidates for the PEC Chairpersons (including the 2 exams organized by using the translated exam tests in the languages of ethnic minorities), while the 4 exams took place for the candidates for the PEC Members (including the 2 exams organized by using the translated exam tests in the languages of ethnic minorities). In sum, approximately 34 000 individuals have successfully passed the exams. In addition, the Election Administration of Georgia has implemented numerous educational and learning project over the past year and a half, aiming at providing information to the potential commission members and their capacity building. We would like to herein mention that considering the existing experience, we do not exclude the attempt of the interested individuals to discredit the process of electing the PEC Members. We would like to emphasize that the Election Administration of Georgia conducts its activities as per the applicable legislation and international standards. We call upon the stakeholders to avoid harming the crucial phase of the election process such as the procedure of composing the PECs, by disseminating baseless and manipulative statements.
