Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Ruslan Abashidze, resigns

Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Ruslan Abashidze, resigns.

“I want to inform the public about my decision. Today I am leaving the position of the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.

During my tenure as the Chairman of the Government of Abkhazia [from 2019], together with my team, we have met many challenges to protect the interests of our society. We have launched many new initiatives and have significant results.

I would like to thank the members of the Government of Abkhazia for the jointly implemented activities, the most important programs and projects implemented in the direction of peace policy, institutional strengthening, health protection of the displaced population, education, culture, sports and youth, economic activity and social security. I want to thank the Supreme Council of Abkhazia for their special cooperation and support. Thank you to the executive and legislative authorities of Georgia for supporting our work.

I would like to thank the representatives of the accredited diplomatic corps and international organizations in Georgia, with whose involvement, during these years, a number of important projects and events were implemented to support the displaced population from Abkhazia.

I want to express special thanks to the community of Abkhazia. It was a great honor and a great responsibility for me to be in their service and to do work together that would bring us even closer to the goal of uniting the divided societies and restoring the territorial integrity.

I believe that, with the consistent peace policy and the support of the international community, our joint goal - de-occupation of the country, peaceful development and ensuring stability - will be achieved. Once again, I thank the members of my team, the biggest thanks to my family”, - writes Ruslan Abashidze on his Facebook page.
