7193 violations of non-compliance with emission standards were detected in one year

From the enactment of the law until September 3, 2024, a total of 7,193 legal entities and individuals were fined by the crews of the Department of Environmental Supervision [DES] for non-compliance with the established emission norms of motor vehicles. Such a report was released by the [DES].

“10 crews - 5 in Tbilisi, 2 in Kutaisi, 2 in Batumi, 1 in Rustavi - were involved in the inspection process, equipped with all necessary tools. In order to increase the effectiveness of control, the number of vehicles increased by 5 crews - 2 crews were added in Tbilisi, and 1 each in Rustavi and Batumi.

From the enactment of the law until September 3, 2024, a total of 7,193 legal entities and individuals were fined by the crews of the DES for non-compliance with the established norm of emissions of motor vehicles. The most - 3453 violations were recorded in Tbilisi, 1403 - in Kutaisi, 1233 - in Batumi, 1104 - in the city of Rustavi. Out of 7193 fined offenders, 6267 are individuals, 926 - legal entities. 4463 penalty receipts have been drawn up for car drivers, 2434 - minibus drivers, 287 - truck drivers, 9 - bus drivers.

In the case of a natural person, the amount of the fine is 100 GEL for the 1st time, 300 GEL for the 2nd time, 600 GEL for the 3rd time, for non-compliance with the norms established by the vehicle emission legislation. In the case of a legal entity, the fine is 500, 1500 and 3000 GEL, respectively. If the fine is paid within 10 days, the amount of the fine will be reduced by 20%.

Citizens can check fines on the website of the DES: www.des.gov.ge. The fine can be paid through the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - www.videos.police.ge.

In addition to the control of vehicle emissions in 4 large cities of Georgia, the DES implements a number of other measures to improve the quality of the ambient air: fuel quality checks are regularly carried out at gas stations in order to minimize the consumption of unconditioned fuel, which, in turn, significantly reduces the emission of harmful substances into the ambient air”.
