Election Administration proposes signature of Code on Conduct to political parties participating in October 26 elections

The Election Administration (EA) of Georgia proposes signing the Code on Conduct to the political parties that are taking part in the October 26 Elections. Signing the code for representatives of the political parties is possible from today to no later than September 11.

The EA of Georgia considers it crucial to have a document, uniting each election subject taking part in 2024 elections around the internationally recognized principles. In this process, the EA of Georgia, as a neutral body, plays a role of an impartial facilitator and promotes the long-term advancement of electoral culture within its competencies.

Code on Conduct, being developed for the political parties by the EA of Georgia in light with the best international practice, is based on the key principles of the document that was used for the European Parliament Elections. Prior to commencement of the signature process, the EA has sent the draft version of the Code to the political parties, aiming at its introduction to them and presentation of their recommendations. As a result, the latest version of the Code was developed by considering the very recommendations that were submitted by the political parties.

Signing the document is possible from September 9 to no later than September 11 at the Central Election Commission of Georgia. The signatory shall be a head person or an authorized representative of the political parties that are registered for the 2024 Parliamentary Elections. Signed version of the Code on Conduct is scheduled to be published on September 12.
