Mock elections to be held tomorrow, September 11, at 598 electoral precincts

Election Administration (EA) of Georgia will conduct another large-scale project as part of its information campaign regarding electronic elections. Mock elections will be held at 598 electoral precincts across Georgia, including the regions that are densely populated with ethnic minorities, allowing each voter to take part in it.

As the Spokesperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia, Natia Ioseliani stated at today’s briefing, a mock election is scheduled to commence on 11 p.m. and last until 6 p.m.

Voters will personally experience how the verification and vote counting devices function in practice. Explanations on registration procedures will be delivered to them by election administrators. Additionally, voters will firsthand complete the registration procedures such as coloring the sample circle on the ballot paper, being available on the registrar’s table, coloring the circle on the ballot paper in the secret polling booth, placing a ballot paper in a frame-envelope for ensuring the secrecy and placing it in vote counting device (box).

EA of Georgia calls upon voters to take this opportunity and participate in mock elections to firsthand experience the functioning of voting technologies. List of electoral precincts where mock elections is scheduled to take place is available on the CEC Website www.cesko.ge.

We would like to remind you that the Parliamentary Elections and forthcoming elections will be held by using electronic voting technologies as a result of introduced electoral reform in Georgia. On October 26, nearly 90% of voters will take part in elections by using electoral technologies. Accordingly, informing voters about technological innovations and educating them in this regard stand among the key priorities of the Election Administration of Georgia. Significantly important is to engage as many voters as possible in the activities that are organized as part of the campaign. Herein, we would like to highlight that demonstration of voting technologies is gradually held at the places of public gathering, public and private institutions, and more than a half million voters are informed for the time being.
