Recall of Ukrainian Chargé d’Affaires from Georgia does not contribute to development of relations – Prime Minister

The recall of the Ukrainian Chargé d’Affaires from Georgia is not contributing to the development of relations, these decisions of the Ukrainian authorities are very disappointing for us. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.

As Irakli Kobakhidze added, “Georgia remained in a one-sided friendship mode, as this is necessary for the Ukrainian people and Ukraine”.

“We have never recalled Georgia’s Ambassador from Ukraine, nor did we expel the Ukrainian Ambassador from Georgia. This was done by the Ukrainian side, which initially recalled its own Ambassador from Georgia for two reasons. First, we did not join the Russian sanctions, it was about the collapse of our economy, and secondly, we did not send combat volunteers to Ukraine, it was about opening a 2nd front.

We did neither of these things: we did not collapse our economy, and we did not open a second front. The Ukrainian Ambassador was recalled from Georgia on these pretexts, and the public will draw the appropriate conclusions”, - said the Head of the Government.

He highlighted the bravery, unwavering commitment and courage of Georgia’s Ambassador to Ukraine.

“Despite the war and the evacuation of many foreign diplomats, including those from Western countries, the Georgian Ambassador remained in Kyiv throughout the conflict, demonstrating unwavering dedication and resilience. This act of bravery and loyalty to Ukraine was not recognised or valued by the Ukrainian authorities, who eventually expelled the Ambassador from the country…

The Ukrainian authorities’ decisions do not contribute to the development of relations between the two countries. But but these are the decisions of the Ukrainian authorities, which are very disappointing for us. In any case, we remain in a one-sided friendship mode because this is needed by the Ukrainian people and our friend country, Ukraine”, - concluded Irakli Kobakhidze.
