The Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee discussed the agreement on “Cooperation in the Field of Law Enforcement between Georgia and the Kingdom of Belgium”, which the Government of Georgia submitted for ratification.
According to the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, the agreement is of great importance as it involves cooperation between Georgia and the Kingdom of Belgium in the field of law enforcement on issues such as terrorism, organized crime, criminal offenses aimed at harming a person"s life and health, criminal offenses related to the production and illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and precursors, illegal smuggling of migrants across borders, human trafficking, and child sexual exploitation; knowingly benefiting from, acquiring, possessing, or selling property obtained through criminal activities; theft, illegal preparation, circulation, and trade of weapons, ammunition, explosives, dual-use goods and technologies, chemical, radiological, nuclear materials, and other dangerous substances; forgery of money and other means of payment, securities, as well as financial documents, their circulation, and use as genuine; forgery of any official document, their circulation as genuine, money laundering, corruption, and cybercrime.
Aleksandre Darakhvelidze also noted that the agreement provides for cooperation concerning wanted, missing, lost persons, and objects.
The committee endorsed the ratification of the document.
