The Legal Issues Committee reviewed and supported the Draft Law on the Protection of Family Values and Minors, along with its accompanying legislative proposal, in the third reading.
The bill addresses issues related to marriage, the adoption and foster care of minors, the use of medical procedures aimed at assigning a gender different from one’s biological sex, the indication of gender on state-issued documents, education, information dissemination, public assemblies and demonstrations, and the disregard of biological sex in employment relationships.
According to the legislative package, May 17th is designated as the Day of Family Purity and Parental Respect.
“This initiative clearly and visibly shows who chooses our traditional Georgian values and who stands behind propaganda that can cause significant harm, especially to minors”, - said Rati Ionatamishvili, one of the bill’s initiators, Chairman of the Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration Committee.
