122 864 voters took part in mock elections held by using voting technologies

122 864 voters took part in the mock elections that was held by using electronic voting technologies. Another large-scale project of informing voters regarding electronic elections was implemented yesterday. Mock elections envisaged the participation of each voter since the Election Administration (EA) of Georgia organized it at 598 electoral precincts across Georgia, including the densely populated regions with ethnic minorities.

Voters personally experienced the functioning of verification and vote-counting devices. Citizens went through the necessary procedures for voting - coloring the sample circle on the ballot paper being available on the registrar’s table, coloring the circle on the ballot paper in the secret voting booth, placing the ballot paper in a framed envelope to ensure secrecy, and placing the ballot in the vote counting machine (ballot box). During the process, the election administrators explained each procedure to the interested persons and answered the questions of their interest.

It is noteworthy that the mock election has been conducted without any error, in general. At several electoral precincts, insignificant technical errors were identified, not influencing the process of mock polling.

The Election Administration thanks all citizens participating in the project for their interest, activity, and civic responsibility.

We would like to remind you that as a result of the introduced election reform in Georgia, the Parliamentary Elections and any forthcoming election will be held by using electronic technologies. On October 26, nearly 90% of voters will take part in elections by using electronic voting technologies.

As voter verification (registration) and voting procedures are changing, provision of information and education to voters about technological novelties stand among the top priorities of the EA of Georgia. It is noteworthy that as part of the EA’s information campaign, more than 600,000 voters are informed for the time being.
