Many parties are registered and everyone can advertise, campaign, complete freedom is ensured - if the OSCE/ODHIR writes a different conclusion in such an environment, it will not be worth it. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia, while talking about the OSCE/ODHIR observation mission.
“According to the Russian intelligence, OSCE/ODIHR will make a pre-prepared conclusion regarding the holding of elections in a non-competitive environment. I don’t think this is a correct prediction. In order for the OSCE/ODIHR to draw a conclusion about a non-competitive electoral environment, does it have to have something in hand? For example, some people did not have the opportunity to place billboards, or some people were blocked from registering, or the general environment was not competitive…
You all see that there are many parties registered and everyone can advertise, campaign, complete freedom is ensured. Under such circumstances, how should the OSCE/ODIHR draw a conclusion regarding the non-competitiveness of the elections? You can see how the election processes will be conducted, what the election environment is like. When there is nothing tangible, what should the OSCE/ODIHR write, so I cannot agree with this statement of Russia.
If the OSCE/ODIHR writes a different conclusion under the conditions of such an environment, it will not have a price, the main evaluator of the elections is the Georgian society and people, this is the main thing for us”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
