Today, Georgian Dream is the only political force that fully shares the principles of democracy, it will be difficult to mislead the majority of the Georgian people - Maka Botchorishvili

Georgia’s European future is featured so extensively in the pre-election campaign that it is impossible to avoid this topic.

We hear many lies and manipulations from the opposition regarding the European Union in an attempt to mislead Georgian voters, but what is more alarming is that the issue of the European Union is being exploited not only by the Georgian opposition but also through the blatant involvement of external forces in this process.

This is being done so crudely that we can boldly describe the actions of some so-called foreign friends as interference in Georgia’s elections and attempts to influence the results.

Georgia is a European country, the Georgian people are a European nation, and our aspiration towards the European Union is determined by our country’s centuries-long history, which is primarily a history of struggle for European values.

Now, I would like to address those who are trying to question the sincerity of the Georgian authorities’ desire to join the European Union and do not hesitate to suggest that we have yet to prove our desire to join the European Union.

If you are not deceiving yourselves and are seeking the truth, then rely only on the facts!
Facts do not lie, and you will not waste time searching for answers to irrelevant questions if you trust them.

The fact is that in the Georgian political landscape of today, the Georgian Dream is the sole political force that fully embraces European values and the principles of democracy. For the Georgian Dream, the interests and voice of the Georgian people are of paramount importance, and the protection of human rights is not just a declaration.

The fact is that today, the Georgian opposition is entirely monopolized by the collective National Movement.

This is the very force that that the Georgian people remember for its governance through repressive mechanisms; the force for which national interest and dignity are foreign concepts, and for which the interests and voice of the Georgian people are of no importance.

These are not just empty words. These words are backed by statistics, and if you do not wish to take our word for it, turn to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg and its data.

The numbers will tell you why the Georgian opposition has nothing to do with European values and why you cannot believe their false pro-Europeanness.
The numbers will tell you how the Georgian Dream managed to fight for truth and justice in an unfair struggle, despite numerous obstacles, and to be unafraid of criticism when it came to upholding the rule of law and protecting human rights.

The facts will also tell you that the Georgian Dream authorities do not need to prove their loyalty in their relations with strategic partners.

Signing the Association Agreement with the European Union in 2013-14 was not an easy decision for a country occupied by Russia, nor was its successful implementation.

Look at the facts here as well and compare Georgia to other partners. This is the result of the political decisions made by the Georgian Dream authorities.

Visa-free travel to the European Union was no gift from the EU. It was the result of tireless efforts and reforms carried out by the authorities under the Georgian Dream.

Nor was our soldiers’ service on the front lines of international missions a mere gesture. It was a demonstration of the political will of the Georgian Dream authorities to stand alongside our strategic partners.

Nor are these results of economic development something that simply fell from the sky. They are the outcome of the correct economic policies of the Georgian Dream and 12 years of peaceful governance.
Similarly, the candidate status for EU membership is not a historic achievement earned simply by waving the European Union flag.
The country’s progress would have been much easier if not for the tireless and relentless struggle by the Georgian opposition, as represented by the collective National Movement, against the Georgian state and its interests.

Look at the facts here as well: Who was trying to convince international partners not to grant Georgian candidate status? Who fought against visa-free travel for Georgian citizens in the European Union? Who accuses their own authorities of being pro-Russian? Who constantly threatens the peace and stable development of this country?
This is the reality. These are the facts. No matter how hard you try to rehabilitate the opposition, it will be difficult to mislead the majority of the Georgian people.
So, for once, trust the choice of the Georgian people, and do not make us waste precious time answering irrelevant and baseless questions or proving the truth.
The country needs peace and stability so that no one may put our nation’s European future at risk.
