The CEC plans to conduct an electronic technology compliance audit during the October 26, 2024, elections. The compliance audit will be conducted by PRO V&V a - U.S. registered election systems testing laboratory, accredited by leading institutions which was selected through appropriate procedures.

The compliance audit will be conducted in three stages: the first stage - includes the analysis of software updates and determining their compliance with the election legislation of Georgia, the second stage – observing the process of preparing the equipment for elections and determining the accuracy of appropriate file for configuration, and third – Election Day observation.

Notably, as in previous years, the compliance audit’s results will be included in the conclusion (report) and publicly available for any interested individual. The public is aware that the CEC, following international best practices, conducted a compliance audit of the electronic devices used in the October 1, 2023 elections and publicly shared the results. This added greater transparency to the process and addressed all questions, myths, and concerns.

Election legislation provides for the audit of elections conducted using electronic means, guaranteeing a paper trail at all stages in accordance with the so-called paper trail principle. The paper trail enables verification, review, and monitoring at every stage of the process. Additionally, according to the law, ballots will be counted manually before the final voting results are determined. However, in line with international best practices, the CEC has independently initiated a second audit to ensure there are no doubts about the technology used.
