Ford to recall over 144,000 U.S. vehicles over rearview camera image freeze

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued recall notifications for over 161,000 F-150 and Maverick vehicles for parking lights that may flicker and a rearview camera malfunction, writes USA TODAY.

Ford is recalling 144,516 of its 2022-2024 Ford Maverick vehicles that are equipped with a Connected Touch Radio, the NHTSA report issued on Thursday said. The motor company said the “rearview camera image may freeze when the vehicle is in reverse”. When a rearview camera does not operate properly, it can reduce the driver’s visibility and increase the risk of a crash, the report said.

To fix the issue, dealers will update the Connected Touch Radio’s software for free. Recall notification letters are expected to be delivered by Sept. 30. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 24S59.
