Meeting with the representatives of the pre-election observer mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) took place at the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia. During the meeting, preparatory process for the October 26, 2024 Elections was discussed with CEC Chairperson, CEC Deputy Chairperson, CEC Secretary, and CEC Members. The PACE Delegation Members gained information on the questions of their interest from both the CEC Chairperson and the CEC Members.
Giorgi Kalandarishvili provided the Delegation Members with information regarding the activities which the Election Administration (EA) of Georgia is organizing for conducting elections with the highest level of professionalism and in accordance with international standards. Furthermore, large-scale introduction and use of technologies in the electoral process were elaborated. According to the CEC Chairperson, observance of the principles of transparency and publicity is crucial and the EA of Georgia will support the international observers to conduct their observer mission as much as possible.
The PACE Delegation has held meetings with the leadership of Iulian Bulai since yesterday, engaging with representatives from state institutions and civil sector as well as media. The PACE Delegation will observer the October 26 Elections along with other international observers.
